'Als je bloost, verlies je.' Volgens dit principe wordt de middelbare scholier Nishikata voortdurend uitgelachen door zijn buur Takagi-san. Nu zijn trots in stukken is gebroken, zweert hij dat hij de rollen om zal draaien en haar op een dag terug zal pakken. En dus probeert hij haar dag in dag uit te plagen, maar wordt vroeg of laat weer het slachtoffer van Takagi-san's spot. Zal hij Takagi-san uiteindelijk zelfs maar één keer kunnen laten blozen van schaamte?
