Helena is getrouwd met de koning van Sparta, maar wordt hopeloos verliefd op Paris, een knappe Trojaanse prins. De minnaars vluchten samen naar Troje, waar koning Priamus hen onderdak biedt. Agamemnon, de meedogenloze broer van de koning van Sparta, zet zich in om Helena terug te halen en leidt het goed getrainde Spartaanse leger naar Troje. Na een belegering van tien jaar krijgen de Grieken met hun beroemde paard van Troje toegang tot de vesting. Dit is het begin van het beslissende gevecht dat uiteindelijk het lot van de twee rijken zal beslechten.
