De jonge avonturier Belgrieve trekt zich terug in een rustiger leven nadat hij zijn been aan een beest heeft verloren. Terwijl hij op een dag kruiden verzamelt in het bos, redt hij een verlaten kind. Angeline traint met haar vader en bereikt later de S-rang in het avonturiersgilde van de hoofdstad. Vijf jaar later besluit ze terug te keren naar huis.
